Pete and Repete got back into their boat

…and bought completely different rings.

Right before we were about to order our pretty rings from Whiteflash and Blue Nile, we remembered that JP didn’t know his ring size. There was one private jeweler that we hadn’t visited in Hotlanta, and we figured it was as good of a time as any to go look at their rings, aka pretend to buy one and get JP sized.

In walked fate, and on the 17th floor of a shiny high-rise in Buckhead, before we knew it, JP and I had purchased our rings from this jeweler we’d previously ignored. His ring was less expensive than Blue Nile, and mine was the same as Whiteflash. Oh yeah, and my ring? Specially made por moi and to fit underneath my engagement ring. Everything to my crazy-picky list of things I wanted and needed.

Yesterday, we picked up the rings, and ZOMG are we happy.

Local family-owned jeweler for the win. Custom ring for the win.

How many times did you change your mind about rings? Who else went the custom route via a local jeweler? How was your experience?

‘Maids in Brass Knuckles

brassknuckles

**

Ok, maybe not brass knuckles, but amazing amazing amazing knuckle rings by Heistjewelry on Etsy.

I have bookmarked these lovelies not once, not twice, but SEVEN times on my computer. I have the images saved like 0238432 times. I have a super-secret (or not-so-secret) crush on these knuckle rings, and then it went into overdrive when I saw them on the pictured set of bridesmaids circulate the wedding-blogosphere.

I would love to have these made for my ladies, but I’ll be honest– I might be chicken. I would wear the heck out of these, but I don’t know how my bridesmaids would like ‘em. Just because I’m off-the-wall doesn’t mean that I have to guilt them into being off-the-wall too.

“Oh thanks. Knuckle rings… with… my… name! Yay!”

This will probably stay a pipe-dream, as I’m sure they would prefer more grown-up jewelry if I’m shelling out $100 for a knuckle ring, but it’s still fun to think about. I might just buy one for myself, cause, well, what would be more awesome than me running around at the reception with not-so-brass knuckle-rings! Dare I say… nothing?

Have you fallen in love with certain items for your bridal party only to realize that they’re probably more YOUR style than theirs? Should I scour the ‘net for a more gag-gift-price-point alternative version of these guys for the ladies, or just live my brass knuckle dream by myself at the wedding?

Wedding Bands!

Yesterday, JP and I went on an epic adventure. We went to visit Tiffany & Co. to look at wedding bands! My engagement ring is from T&Co., so naturally we want to have our wedding bands from there too.

For JP, we loved the 6mm Lucida.

For me, there are two options. The 3mm Lucida, which is just the lady version of the ring he likes, and then also the 2.6 mm Bezet with diamonds.

For my ring we aren’t sure yet. For one thing, the diamond band cannot be engraved, which is something that we were looking forward to doing for each other. It also depends on how much we can spend. We both want to individually pay for the other’s ring, and not include it in the overall wedding budget. We weren’t planning on going platinum, but white gold. Too bad that it looks like T&Co. phased out their white gold wedding bands.

Let me be the first to admit that we were still freaking terrified to walk into there by ourselves. Not to sound like a little snot, but I’ve been going into that T&Co. at Phipps since I was an infant. It never intimidated me before, but ever since we’ve been going there as a couple, I’ve been totally intimidated! Maybe it’s because it’s not under the wing of my parents or their wallets. It’s an exciting feeling though. We always walk out with such a rush! You’d think that after buying my engagement ring there we wouldn’t be so scared. For instance, we really wanted to get my ring cleaned while we were there, but were too wired and anxioius that we forgot to do it! I also think I used the words “awesome” and “sweet” about 400 times while we were speaking with the woman about rings. I know I must have sounded like a total moron. My vocabulary just went out the window. What silly children we are.

Anyway, it was a fun and exhilarating experience, and it makes my heart do flip-flops whenever I think about it.

Anybody else turn into a ball of excited-nervous energy upon entering a jewelry store to look at wedding bands? Surely we’re not the only ones. :p
