For JP’s wedding threads, he’s gonna need a tux. A super hot black tux. I’m pretty excited about seeing him in a tux, and that’s an understatement. He is tall and slender with great shoulders, so I think that a more slim-fitting tux would look best on him. I prefer a tux with a bow tie and lots of white shirt showing.
It seems like some guys get stuck in tuxes that are super boxy. Just ends up looking like bad prom formal wear. I shudder at the thought. The tuxes above are ones that are my favorites. They are slim-fitting, sleek, and definitely do not conjure up images of prom polyester. The first row is a J. Crew tux and an Armani tux. The second row is the same Hugo Boss tux shown in two different ways.
We haven’t gone to try on tuxedos yet, but JP prefers the look of a tie to a bow tie. While I do thinks it looks really nice with a slim tie, I have reservations. Does wearing a tux with a tie defeat the purposes of wearing a tux? Wouldn’t it just look like a nice black suit? I want him to wear a tux he’s comfortable and confident in, so of course I’m willing to make concessions. We’ll see what looks best when we try these suckers on!
Is anybody else weirdly… opinionated like I am regarding tuxes? How did you handle your groom’s wedding-wear? Is a tux with a tie (virtually) no more formal than a nice black suit with a tie?
