i love you much (most beautiful darling)

“So where’d the ‘I love you much’ thing come from?” you may ask. “Where’s that from?”

Good question.

“i love you much (most beautiful darling)” is one of my favorite E. E. Cummings poems. (Wow, his name looks really strange in correct caps…) I’ve never been a huge poetry person, but for some reason, I’ve always been drawn to his poems. This is the E. E. Cummings poem that I send most often to JP. (He has a few that he uses for me as well!) Exchanging this poetry, however cliche it may be or sound, is just so incredibly romantic.

i love you much(most beautiful darling)

more than anyone on the earth and i
like you better than everything in the sky

-sunlight and singing welcome your coming

although winter may be everywhere
with such a silence and such a darkness
noone can quite begin to guess

(except my life)the true time of year-

and if what calls itself a world should have
the luck to hear such singing(or glimpse such
sunlight as will leap higher than high
through gayer than gayest someone’s heart at your each

nearness)everyone certainly would(my
most beautiful darling)believe in nothing but love

Beautiful, right?

When choosing the domain name for our wedding website, I wanted something that was representative of us, but also something on the fun/non-traditional side. We could have put our names together, but that seemed expected! We thought of about 20234 possibilities, but nothing seemed right. One night, the idea of “i love you much” hit me. What a fun name for a wedding website! What a great name also for a blog for the whole she-bang, including all of my crazy art stuff. I registered it on a whim in the middle of the night, and now here we are! (Okay, several months have passed, but I was obsessing over what to do! :p )

So, there’s the long answer to a very short question.

LOVE it. It’s actually probably going to be one of our readings during our ceremony. ;)

Thanks!! You’re so sweet. :)
I’m sure you’ll come up with something good. I had about 5 pages in a moleskine with ideas before I got to that one!
